Tasting Notes

88-90
Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Dec 21
The 2020 Meursault Village was racked in July into older barrels with on lees without exposure to oxygen (so more like a movement around Lafon's cellar). The nose is quite rich with touches of tropical fruit, orange pith, passion fruit and a touch of quince, not amazingly complex yet focused. The palate is well balanced with a honeyed opening, slightly lower in acidity than expected with a long finish. Fine. Bottled under Diam 30. Closure: Diam 30

Meursault Fine Wine

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
